Thank you so much for that reply. Your information is so important. I was intending to get hybrid. The price is between 105G.

I paiseh if not buying from them instead There are no obligations with test drive. You just have to be prepared not to be swayed by their words. Go home and choose the correct PI. PS. Do avoid Exodus. Got at least 2 sienta customer delivery date keep changing for months, unable to collect yet. I just realised from the post that you drive the new Sienta. Awesome. Was it a real pleasant drive? Which PI you bought it from?

Was it a real pleasant drive? Which PI you bought it from? Well I find driving this hybrid quieter than my old sx4. Family loves this car. Got from Autolink last year, as they are the only PI with hybrid. Didn't need test drive as all Japanese cars have same feel and handling.

Hi zfuyuan, finally got my Sienta X 2016 model on Mar 2nd after a 5 months wait.
The reason are probably caused by the clarification/checking on the emission control test by LTA and also the amount of new cars for inspection. The PI did try their best to chase LTA too and they furnished me with the chassis number and application number to call and check with LTA. Am worried about the PI at first, and also personally called LTA to check on the delay too.
Btw, this is my 2nd Toyota Sienta purchase. The first Sienta was scraped in Jan 2016 after using it for 10 years. It's a work horse, very happy with it's reliability, fuel consumption and other then the usual maintenance, it's trouble free.

Hi ozark, glad that you got your car. This is my 1st sienta. Was having difficulty getting CFO approval for 1st gen model. Lucky 2nd gen came out. Glad to know your old sienta is trouble free.
FYI, there is a recall last month announced by Toyota for 2nd gen sienta. Do check if you are affected and how your PI can help you fixed it.

Hi Zfuyuan, am not aware on the recall for 2nd gen sienta? Kindly advise what's the reason/s for the recall? Thanks the the timely info and advise.
Hi daddy04, the PI which I purchased my car, scraped it on my behalf and they too paid me the PARF value of the old Sienta.

Hi Zfuyuan, am not aware on the recall for 2nd gen sienta? Kindly advise what's the reason/s for the recall? IMO, it's a minor safety fix. But at least through this experience we know which PI can or can't do recall. toyota.jp/recall/campaign/160204_2.html

I understands the recall is on the middle row seat release lever. Which I believe they(PI) are awaiting for spare parts to arrive to workshops(tie up with them) to fix it up for guys who have ordered their cars. Which should be at no cost to the buyer of the vehicle.

Hi Zfuyuan, I do agree with you that this experience will let us have some indicators on the better PI. Called my PI and the sales guy advised me that the recall are for Pirus and Rush (according to LTA). Dunno whether he did check with LTA and if it's really true? BTW the URLs furnished by you is in Japanese, wish I could understand it. See if I can get someone to translate it. I did WhatsApp him the URLs furnished by you and also 'club' info on the middle row seat release lever. Lets see if he can come back with any answers? Hi sclub, - Thank you for the info too. You are spot on the reason (middle seat row release lever) for the recall. I'd manage to get it translated and am attaching it to this message. Hope am able to do so. So owners out there, check out the chassis number and if your car falls under the numbers, call your PI.

Hi ozark, when PI says they depends on LTA for recall is incorrect. Refer to www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onemotoring/en/lta_information_guidelines/maintain_vehicle/electronic_vehicle.html. 1) Refer to "motor dealers/importers are required to notify LTA and owners of the affected vehicles imported or sold by them". So... LTA is not aware until dealer inform them. Too passive IMO. 2) Look at the lists of recall for past 6 months. This LTA portal seems to be for AD cars only. e.g. Honda Jazz but no Fit. So bottom line, we (consumer) have to do the chasing. Cannot depend on LTA.

Thanks for the info zfuyuan. I have text the translated details to my PI and he told me that they are looking into it (I do hope so?). Well, lets see what is the outcome? I did check my end and try to mimick the problem this morning but it seems that if you are careful, there shudn't be a problem during the operation. Gonna try again when I have more time and let you fellas know if I encounter any problem.

Hi to all owners, referring to the 'Auto Stop & Start' feature on our Sienta ..... am feeling strange and uncomfortable with it. It literally stop the engine when in an idle mode and then automatically kick-on the engine in a while (like it re-start the engine)? My greatest fear is that it may kill the lifespan of the engine. Do you fellas have any problem with this feature?

Hi ozark, some comments from owners about this feature which i pluck from another site Elgin Koh: it's safe to use. the battery, starter and engine are designed for it. James Wong: Play with the brake to activate or deactivate the auto start stop at traffic lights. Need a bit to get use to it. James Wong: I keep it turned on but controlled my right foot on when to activate James Wong: Initially a bit difficult now understands and know when to use Garrett Teo: for petrol auto off read here... toyota.jp/sienta/performance/engine/Garrett Teo: i know there has been some discussion in various forum on this...but usually those cars with start stop feature, the 12V battery is slightly different from those older cars we have as i understand. it should cater for such start stop situation. I also learnt from other forum that if you depressed your brake hard while in long jam, it will kick in start stop, but if you depress your brake pedal lightly it will not engaged...maybe for those with petrol version you would like to try it? www.varta-automotive.com/en-gb/technology/tech-start-stop/the-basic-principle/www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2011/06/the-shocking-truth-about-start-stop-systems/
